What is a ticker? Symbol? Coin?
We use the term “ticker” to describe the short codes for stocks or coins. For example, SPY, DIA, FB, BTC and ETH are all “tickers”. Symbols are stocks (a.k.a. equities) and coins are coins (Bitcoin for example).
Will alerts reset automatically?
This depends. Once an alert is triggered it will be disabled unless you select “Auto Enable”. We tried leaving them enabled by default, but trust us, your inbox would overflow (we did it). You will need to either update the alert or select “Auto Enable” in order to start receiving notifications again. When you use “Auto Enable”, we apply the same operation and movement (for example: up 5%) on the current price.
Will adding alerts automatically add news and pricing details for that symbol/coin?
Yes. When you create an alert we automatically pull in the latest news you to read on the News Tab. We also automatically update the price ticker on top of every page so you can keep an eye on the current prices.
Will notifications or emails be sent when alerts need to be reset?
Sort of. When an alert is triggered (your conditions for the alert have been met) we send you an email (or SMS if you provided your phone number). Once this happens, the alert is no longer enabled and you need to update it. We also post a reminder when you go to the update alerts page.
Can I trade from this application?
Not yet. We will be providing affiliate links for our trading partners though so please keep an eye out.
Can I see news for just one ticker?
Absolutely. Tickers with a dark red border are all links to that ticker’s news page. We don’t store the news so each time you click for news we pull the latest.
Can multiple symbols and coins be added to one alert?
No. We did test this in beta and it was just too confusing. But, our technology roadmap is determined by what our users want. So, you can always click on the feedback button (bottom right) and create/upvote that request. We'll get it done.
What does "This ticker is currently unavailable" mean?
Sometimes a stock or coin can be delisted which means that it is no longer available to trade and therefore not able to be tracked on HawkAlerts.
How do I report bugs?
You simply need to click the orange icon on the bottom right of every screen. This tool allows you to “Draw on the screen” so you can highlight the issue or just provide general feedback. Please remember, if you think you found a bug, make sure you select “Bug” in the category dropdown.
How do I make suggestions?
Again, you just need to click the orange icon on the bottom right of every screen. Select “General feedback” and tell us what you think. You can also use this form to make suggestions for future changes. We will compile all the suggestions and send out a survey to everyone so we can pick the next development task!
Do you offer refunds?
No. We do not offer refunds. But, if you cancel your service, you will not be charged after your cancellation date.
